CRASHDIET: Official Forum Re-Opened In Memory Of Fallen Frontman

January 23, 2006

The surviving members of the Swedish band CRASHDIET have decided to re-open their official forum in order to give fans a chance to express their condolences and discuss their feelings about the recent passing of the group's frontman, David Hellman (a.k.a. Dave Lepard).

Commented bassist Peter London: "As we recieve lots of e-mails regarding Dave Lepard, we thought it would be a good idea to open up a forum again. This time it's moderated by us, the ex-bandmembers, Peter London, Martin Sweet and Eric Young.

"We have lost a great friend and an extremely talented artist, and this is the place where you can share your thoughts, emotions and memories with other fans and friends in the same situation.

"We will be here to answer questions but it's still a bit too early to discuss any closer details about exactly how and why he passed away.

"Also, English is the language to be spoken here. Please, NO Swedish topics or replies."

As previously reported, Hellman was found dead Friday morning (Jan. 20) at his apartment in the Swedish city of Uppsala, north of Stockholm. It has been unofficially reported that he hanged himself, although this has yet to be confirmed.

CRASHDIET was a Stockholm, Sweden-based Eighties hard rock-style band whose debut album, "Rest in Sleaze", entered the Swedish national album chart at position No. 12.

CRASHDIET were reportedly the first "sleaze rock" band in over 10 years to be signed directly to a major company — Universal Music. The group, whose members were said to be in their early 20s, were scheduled to make their U.S. debut in March at the South by Southwest music conference/festival in Austin, Texas.
